Glamour Doll Eyes Christmas sets, Control Freak eye primer and Foil Me

Okay, so I made this blog roughly a month ago and it's took me until now to actually do a post on it. With the run up to Christmas, New Year and the lack of day light hours, I have struggled slightly on finding a time to do it and also getting decent lighting to take photos in.

So, here is my first real blog entry! I thought for my first post I would focus on eye products from the make up company Glamour Doll Eyes. I first heard about this company a few months ago when I was looking for eyeshadow tutorials on Youtube. I come across a video showing how to do a smokey eyed look for green eyes (which I have), and they were using all Glamour Doll Eyes eyeshadows. I had a little look at the Glamour Doll Website and placed an order for a few shadows and I was very impressed! Since then I have ordered a few eye products from them. For this reason, I have decided to focus this post on their 2011 Christmas eyeshadow collections, eye primer and foil me (all of which I have purchased during late November/early December.)

This is set one of two retailing at $16 (It is an American store so I have to work it in USD rather than GBP). It came presented in a beautiful drawstring bag along with some promotional business cards. I will also point out that the lables on the eyeshadows are special designs for the Christmas sets and differ from their usual lables. Also, the sticker on the bag was there just to let me know that a Glamour Gloss I ordered from them would be shipped in a seperate parcel.

Snow Berry - This is such a beautiful colour. It is a lovely redish pink colour and contains silver shimmer. This product is not lip safe and is vegan.

Gingerbread Girl - This eyeshadow just makes my mouth water. It is a medium brown with very fine copper shimmer to it. It appears more matte than Snow Berry but you can see the shimmers when you look closer. This product is lip safe and not vegan.

Snow Globe - This shadow is a lovely white colour with very very subtle shimmer to it. It kind of reminds me of fresh fallen snow with how it glistens ever so slightly. This can be used perfectly as a highlight colour. This product is not lip safe and vegan.

Champagne Kisses - This eyeshadow is a lovely light gold with fine silver shimmer throughout. It looks really nice all over the lid with a darker colour like Gingerbread Girl blended into the crease. This product is lip safe and vegan.

This is set two retailing for $14. Again it is presented in the silver star bag with the Christmas lables.

Overslept - This eye shadow kind of reminds me of Christmas trees. It is a lovely green colour with very fine gold and purple shimmer. This product is lip safe and vegan.

Midnight Light Show - This photo really doesn't do this eyeshadow justice. In person it is sort of a gunmetal silver colour with multicoloured sparkle throughout. It looks like the flash of my camera picked out a lot of the purple sparkle making it look this colour. I really love this shadow. This product is lip safe and vegan.

Tinsel Fight - This is the only eye light in both of the Christmas sets. An eye light is very fine glitter which is safe for use around the eyes. This is a lovely multicoloured glitter that I think will look lovely put over eyeliner. This product is both lip and eye safe.

December 26th - This is gorgeous pink colour with gold shimmer throughout. I kind of reminds me of the colour of the Christmas decorations I have in my house. This product is lip safe and vegan.

So that is both of the Christmas sets I purchased. Unfortunately, they sold out pretty quickly so I don't think you can get these any more. My favourite of the two would have to be set one as I think the colours are more suitable for day to day wear whereas set two is a bit glitzy so may have to be saved until a night out (depending on how daring you are with your make up I guess!)

Alongside of these sets, I also purchased the Control Freak primer and the Foil Me dropper bottle. Control Freak is a new product to Glamour Doll Eyes so I thought I would give it a go. Foil Me had been sold previously but had stopped for a while so I brought some just as it came back to the website.

Okay, so this is the first primer I have used that is in a tin rather than a tube. The packaging is lovely on this and there is a lot of product for the $10.75 price tag. The first thing you will notice is different to a normal primer is the texture. This has more of a mousse/gel feel to it rather than the thick liquid I am usually used to using. When applying to the skin, at first it does come out the colour it is shown in the tin. Once blended out however, it fades to a more natural colour.
This shows the colour of the product when first put on (on the left hand side), and then blended out into the skin (on the right hand side). Once blended it, I applied my eyeshadow as normal. I have only used this once so far and only for a 6 hour period before removing the make up. However, during this time my eyeshadow did not crease! This gets a super thumbs up from me!

This was something I'd wanted to try for quite a while but it wasn't available until quite recently. It comes in two formats; in a dropper bottle(like shown above) or in a lipgloss tube. I opted for the dropper bottle as I feel this is the easier way to do it. I've just checked the website for the price but I cannot actually find it at the moment.

I haven't actually used it as part of my make up routine yet so I thought the best way to show it's effects was by doing swatches. I have used the Glamour Doll Eyes shadow 'Bruised' to demonstrate. On the left had side is the shadow applied normally, and on the right is the shadow applied over Foil Me. As you can see, it adds a lot of dimension to the shadow and makes it a lot brighter. Best of all, you only need one or two drops of the Foil Me along with the shadow so the product really does go a long way!

So, that is all I have product wise to show you for now. I do know they will be having a very limited Valentines collection released this month so fingers crossed I can get my hands on one of those! If I do manage to, I will do a blog about it along with photos.

Just to finish off, this is my Glamour Doll Eyes collection as it stands at the moment. At this rate, I will need a bigger storage box! I hope that you have found this post somewhat interesting if you happen to stumble across it! If you would like a look yourself at the shadows available, here is the link - www.glamourdolleyes.com

Thanks for reading!
